Hello, my name is Bram. I am 16 years old and my biggest passion is photography, especially nature photography, macro photography and abstract photography.
Once, on a family weekend, I got to try out my cousin's camera. From the moment I first looked through the viewfinder, I wanted a camera too.
After saving up for a long time, I bought my first camera, a used Canon EOS 1000D with a kit lens. From then on, I always took my camera with me. In the beginning, I took pictures of everything I saw: from vast landscapes to the dewdrops on a flower.
After a while, I got into macro photography: I found it so magical to see everything up close. I also bought an external flash and made a diffuser to create even more beautiful light. And I started a photography community on Discord called "Photo Shutters," which already has over 900 members.
A year later, I was editing a photo of two ladybugs when my parents walked by. They saw something in that picture. On my next birthday, they gave me a subscription to the zoo. I bought a used Tamron 18-200mm lens to get the animals bigger in the frame.
Another 2 years later, I decided to upgrade my camera to a used Canon EOS 70D and started abstract macro photography. One of these photos even went viral on Reddit. Also, this photo now hangs on the wall at home.
Another year later, I had wonderful experiences while hiking on the Utrechtse Heuvelrug. As we were walking, suddenly a deer jumped 3 meters in front of us, into a large open field. My old lens was out of focus and couldn't zoom in enough. On the way back, we also saw a fox in that same field, but it was also too far away for my 200mm lens.
A Sigma 150-600mm lens was the logical next step.
Sadly, the Canon EOS 70D only lasted me for 1.5 years. But I couldn't let the opportunity to buy a Canon EOS 7D Mark II go to waste. At that point, I am now.
My mother always says, "Make your hobby your job and you'll never have to work again!" How wonderful it would be to make photography my job!
